Manchester will celebrate the city's eleventh Irish Festival in March this year with an action packed sixteen days of Irish Music, Song, Dance and Culture
The annual event which is now established as one of the biggest Irish Festivals in Europe, is launched on Saturday 4th March and runs to Sunday 19th March 2006
The first festival was launched in 1996 by the then President of Ireland Mary Robinson, it has since grown into one of the biggest Irish Festivals in Europe
The festival has played host to the likes of Shane McGowan, Toss the Feathers, Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Westlife, The Corrs, Van Morrison, Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Hazel O'Connor, Stocktons Wing and The Oyster Band
Highlights of this years festival include the Irish Festival Parade which takes place on Sunday 12th March leaving from the Irish World Heritage centre and making its way into the city centre
